The Ethiopian Ministry of Agriculture (MoA) says it is on track to achieve its target to harvest 277 million quintals of main crops for this harvest season, Ethiopian Radio and Television Agency reported.

MoA Minister, Tefera Deribew made the announcement on Thursday citing a pre-harvest assessment.

The Minister attributed the increased production and productivity to the practical training given to farmers and improvements in supply of agricultural inputs.

In addition to introducing modern agricultural technology to farmers, the Ministry said it has been expanding irrigation schemes to boost agricultural productivity.

This seasons harvest is expected to surpass the the previous season by 46 million quintals.
