Ethiopian Public Notary Office to Become an ISO Certified Public Institution

Ethiopia's public notary, Documents Authentication & Registration Office (DARO) signed an agreement with DQS Management Service PLC –a management systems and certification company on Wednesday, October 16, 2013, Fortune reported.

The DARO is aiming to qualify for ISO 9001 2008 Quality Management System, a certification focusing on service providing institutions.

Successful qualification of the standard will make DARO the first Ethiopian government institution to qualify for an International Standards Organisation (ISO) certification, according to Fortune.

DQS Ethiopia represents the German-based DQS Management Service PLC.

According to the agreement signed at DARO’s headquarters, located on Chad Street, DQS will conduct system analysis and assessment. The DARO will be assessed for plan realization, resource management and customer satisfaction, among other things.

“We will finish assessment and auditing involving over 200 criteria within 11 days,” Alemayehu Belete, manager at DQS Ethiopia told Fortune. “And within 15 days, provided that they fulfill all requirements, we will corroborate the data and issue the certificate in less than a month.”
