Ethiopia: Anbessa City Bus to Introduce New Service

anbessa-cityThe Anbessa City Bus Enterprise is to launch a new service targeting commuters currently using taxis.

The new bus service which is scheduled to commence in March or April 2014 using 50 new buses with redesigned interior, is said to have an adjusted fare and improved service, including limited number of passengers in order to maintain the comfort of passengers.

The Enterprise currently transports 600,000 commuters daily for a relatively cheaper fares, with a subsidy from the Addis Abeba City Administration.

“We are giving transportation services for a very low price. For example, a trip that can cost 3.50 Br through other transport providers is 1.50 Br on our buses,” said Bedilu Assefa, general manager of the Enterprise.

In addition to its plan to add an enhanced service, Anbessa is also working on improving its regular service by increasing the number of active service giving buses.
