The Ethiopian Ministry of Trade signed a memorandum of understanding with various federal sector offices that issue certificate of professional competence for business activities, Walta Information Center reported. 

The MoU aims to ensure a coordinated working relation between the ministry and the 36 sectoral government institutions that issue professional competence certificates for commercial activities.

 “We want to make the system more efficient, productive and cost effective,” Nuredin Mohammed, trade practices and regulatory section adviser with the Ministry, said during the signing ceremony.

Nuredin says the agreement is part of the government’s continued effort to build a more efficient and competitive trade practice with transparency and accountability.

Out of the 36 sectoral government institutions that issue certificates of professional competence, 24 are fully operational currently.
