East African Bottling Inaugurated Expansion of Dire Dawa Plant

 

Coca-Cola logoEast African Bottling S.C, Producer of Coca Cola in Ethiopia completed expansion project at its plant located in Dire Dawa, last week, Fortune Reported.

The US$20 million expansion project has enabled the plant to increase its production capacity five times. Currently, the plant have the capacity to fill 36,000 bottled beverages hourly.

 

The expansion project includes a returnable glass bottling line, maintenance of the previous plant and construction of new buildings.

The expansion project is part of the company's goal to make Ethiopia its primary market in Africa by 2020.

"Ethiopia remains one of our top 10 markets in sub-Saharan Africa. With a population of over 90 million people, we truly believe that this country represents the future of our business," said Greig Jansen, CEO of the company during the inaugural ceremony held on 17 September in Dire Dawa.

The company is also planning to add manufacturing plants in Bahir Dar and Hawasa cities.
