SgurrEnergy, Glasgow based renewable energy consultancy company is providing wind monitoring and analysis services for the first phase of the 400 MW wind farm project in Debre Birhan, Ethiopia.
Terra Global Energy Developers, U.S. energy developer selected SgurrEnergy to carry out wind measurement study for one year as part of the project’s technical and financial feasibility stage.
SgurrEnergy is collecting wind data using equipments installed on site, according to the online energy journal, esi-africa.com. SgurrEnergy has also provided Terra with advice on wind farm layout and wind turbine generator model selection.
Gareth Brown, consultant at SgurrEnergy’s Vancouver office, says, “The Ethiopia wind project is a real milestone for the expansion of renewable energy development, not only in Ethiopia, but in east Africa as a whole.”
After the completion of the one year measurement study in October 2013, SgurrEnergy is expected to provide full report on site suitability and energy yield analysis.
