Ethiopia's Seka Agro Processing PLC. is planning to establish a juice processing plant in Bench Maji Zone, Southern Regional State of Ethiopia, Fortune reported.
The plant will be constructed on a four hectare plot, located 2km away from the company’s mango farm. Seka has already ordered processing machinery from Germany and Italy.
Seka Agro Processing is also aiming to export juice concentrate to the Middle East, as well as fresh juice to the East African region, in addition to supplying the local market, according to Seifu WeldeMichael, managing director of the company.
“We are optimistic about our export destinations. We are particularly excited about exporting to the Middle East, in the form of concentrate, and to East African countries, such as South Sudan, in the form of fresh juice,” Seifu told fortune.
Seka plans to produce 407,100ql of raw mango on its 2,714ha farm in the Southern Regional State. The company has been growing six varieties of improved mango seeds.
