Ethiopia: EU to Provide Fund for the Establishment of New Tourism Entitites

eu-logoEthiopian Ministry of Culture & Tourism secured a US$200,000 fund from the European Union to assist the establishment of the Ethiopian Tourism Enterprise and Tourism Transformation Council.  

The financing will be used to hire consultants to study the design and organizational structure of the two entities, Fortune reported.

 The Ministry will hire consultants through an international competitive bid which will be announced in the coming weeks, Sisay Gemechu, legal affairs adviser in the Ministry, told Fortune.

The establishment of the two entities which seek to boost the tourism sector which expected to fetch US$3 billion by the end of the five year Growth and Transformation Plan, was approved by the Council of Ministers last July.

The Tourism Transformation Council will be tasked with the implementation of tourism strategies, while the Ethiopian Tourism Enterprise will be responsible for tourism marketing and promotion.
