Tour Operators to be Rated from Grade 1 to 3

The Ministry of Culture and Tourism (MoCT) is set to complete the registration of around 231 tour operators by July 7 for the standardization of the companies by rating them from grades one to three.

Tour operators are required to fulfil a list of qualifications based on which they will be rated first, second or third degree operators.

The ministry had discussed standardization of services with tour operators early this year according to Aweke Tenaw, public and external relation directorate director of MoCT.

Aweke said that local tour operators should compete not only locally but also with international operators.
Last year, the ministry had earned 250 million dollars from 500,000 tourists. It has planned to raise 504 million dollars from 560,000 tourists by the end of the current fiscal year.
