The Ethiopian Ministry of Culture and Tourism is finalizing a new standard for the hotels, catering and tourism sector.

"we will be undertaking the pilot project on selected hotels, restaurants and lodges" said Tewodros Deribew, Tourism Services Competence Accreditation director at the Ministry.

The Ministry hold up an earlier dirctive implemented the past year following a controversy with stake holders.

The study is financed by the World Bank, through the Ethiopian Sustainable Tourism Development Project. A Scottish consulting firm, Duniram was given the task of evaluating hotels, restaurants, lodges and motels.
