Experts from the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) are in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia to give trainings in quality standardization.
The training is provided to technical committee members of the national standardization council, Daniel said. The national council comprises of research institutions, manufacturing industries, associations, universities and the business community.
Established in 1972, ESA is the sole national standards body in Ethiopia set up as a governmental non-profit organization. The agency, which is accountable to the Ministry of Science and Technology, represents Ethiopian interests in economical, social and environmental aspects with regard to standard benefits internationally.
ESA underwent major restructuring in 2010 which split the former Quality and Standards Authority of Ethiopia into four organizations - Ethiopian Standards Agency (ESA), Ethiopian Conformity Assessment Enterprise, Ethiopian Metrology Institute and Ethiopian Accreditation Bureau.
