MetEC to Buy Assembled Dozer from Beyo PLC.

Ethiopia's state owned Metals & Engineering Corporation (MetEC) contracted Beyo PLC  for the assembly and delivery of heavy duty construction machineries. Beyo has received 43.5 million Ethiopian Birr for the  delivery of six assembled LIEBHERR dozer, two weeks ago. Beyo is contracted to assemble  components manufactured by the German based LIEBHERR, according to the terms of the agreement.

The imported components for each machinery will cost 6.8 million Birr. The blades, imported from Ukraine,  will be manufactured in Ethiopia.

‘'The cost of assembling dozer locally decreases the purchasing price by 118,000 dollars, compared to the prices that they would be paying if they imported. The MetEC chose the more economical route and selected our product,” a senior manager at Beyo, told Fortune.

Beyo assembles the dozer at its factory at its plant in Legetafo, on the outskirts of Addis Abeba.

Established in 1998, Beyo is engaged in importing components and assembling refrigerators by LIEBHERR. In November 2012, the company also started assembling earth moving equipment by importing parts from the same company.
