Avaya to Start Serving the Ethiopian Market

Avaya, a business communications solutions  provider, announced the launch of a business communications solutions company in Ethiopia on March 6, 2013, at the Sheraton Hotel.

At the launching ceremony, Avaya announced its plans of providing its next-generation business collaboration and communications solutions, unified communications, real-time video collaboration, contact centers, networking solutions and related services to companies Ethiopia. The company also has plans to expand its services in other African  countries.

Peter GatKoukt, State Minister of Communication and Information Technology stated, the government of Ethiopia recognizes the importance of optimizing the use of information communication tools in its effort to increase the performance and productivity of  public and private sector companies.

“Because of this fact, Ethiopia is one of those African countries that have successfully developed ICT programs that encourage large multinational IT organizations like Avaya to offer innovations,” said Peter.

Avaya is currently preparing to open office in Ethiopia as well as working on identifying potential areas of investment.

“Africa remains a key market for Avaya, and launching our solutions to one of the key countries on the continent reinforces our local support to customers as well as partners. It will also give Avaya an opportunity to expand and provide solutions to the East African market. Ethiopia remains a strong driver and an example of the wider regional IT market. Avaya is committed to supporting the country's growth by enabling organizations in all sectors benefit from our world-class collaboration solutions,” said Hatem Hariri, Managing Director, North, West, East, and Central Africa, AVAYA.

Avaya has already discussed with the Ministry Of Information Communication Technology (MoCIT) to identify areas of partnership, however, it has not yet undertaken partnership  with the government on a particular project.
