Entrepreneurship Development Program Unveiled

Ethiopia in partnership with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) unveiled an Entrepreneurship Development Program on Tuesday at the Prime minister's Office in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

The project was developed by the Ethiopian Ministry of Urban Development and Constructions, and the United Nations Development Program aiming to bring transformation and change by harnessing the creativity and drive of aspiring and young entrepreneurs. The Entrepreneurship Development Program is expected to cost around USD 26 million and  will run for three years.

The United Nations Development program has already appropriated USD 6 million out out of the total USD 26.3 million project cost. The Entrepreneurship Development Program geared toward advancing Ethiopia's economic development by creating jobs, wealth and mitigate poverty, by providing training and  business advisory services to micro- and small-scale enterprises, said the UNDP.

Eugen Owusu, UNDP Resident Representative, stated that the project is an important initiative that helps realization of dreams of Ethiopian entrepreneurs who aspire to create great successful enterprises and thus contribute to the transformation agenda of the country.

Hailing the program unique and robust, Mekuria Haile, minister of Urban Development and Construction, said the program provides targeted support to the micro and small scale sector, to create job opportunities, and to ultimately contribute to the attainment of the country's development goals.
