Ethiopian Chamber to Open Academy

The Ethiopian Chamber of Commerce and Sectoral Association is to launch a training center that will focus on leadership and management in the business community. It is expected that the academy will begin operations in the coming three months.

The idea was initiated to enhance the leadership, management and entrepreneurship skills of its members in and other large enterprises Wube Mengistu, Head of the Plan, Project and Trade Development Department at ECCSA.

The feasibility study for the center was conducted at a cost 17 thousand birr by experts and instructors from the Business Faculty of Addis Ababa University. The study was financed by funds acquired to United Nations Development Program said Endalkachew Seme, Deputy Secretary General and Manager of the Advocacy Department.

The trainings recommended by the proposal include strategic planning, governance, membership development, designing and developing services, lobbying and advocacy and communications and public relations he said. The design of the curriculum of study for the center will be completed in the next two months.

A wide range of courses in the fields of leadership, management, accounting, finance, customs law, taxation and international trade will be offered at the training center or privately depending on the choice indicated by clients said Wube.

The first phase of training for trainers to be given by instructors coming from the United States is expected to take 13 days will begin this week.
