UK Delegation to Visit Ethiopia

A Business Delegation led by the Minister for Climate Change is to visit Ethiopia for two days announced the British Embassy in Ethiopia.

The delegation consists of 19 business people representing 14 companies to hold discussions with relevant business people starting on the 4th of October said the press release.

The delegation will discuss ways in which investors engage in Power Development Investment in the UK and share that country’s experience with renewable energy development.

The companies represented by the delegation will be interested in finding out the opportunities for investment in renewable energy development and distribution in Ethiopia it was said.

Notable energy developers from the UK are interested in fostering partnerships with Ethiopian companies to develop a sustained flow of green energy technology transfer.

The delegation hopes to meet with government representatives, scientists and members of the business community.

It is to be remembered that Ethiopia recently called for increased private engagement in the energy sector especially in the construction of bio-gas digesters, solar photovaltic and the production of solar water heater and lanterns and efficient cooking stoves.

The Ethiopian investment code promotes active private participation in the area of power generation said, Gosaye Mengistie, Director of the Energy Study and Development Follow-up Directorate with the Ministry of Water and Energy.
