PPESA to Hand over Privatized Enterprises

The Ethiopian Privatization and Public Enterprises Supervising Agency is to officially hand over six state coffee farms and four other enterprises to private investors.

PPESA is also expected to give a final decision with regards to Batu Construction, Awash Winery, Coffee Technology Development Enterprise, Ghion Hotel and the seven coffee farms under Limu Coffee Farm and its headquarters in Jimma town.

The Board of PPESA which is in charge of approving the sale of privatization of any public enterprise and are expected to approve the transfer to winners of the bidding process.

The bid evaluation document was submitted to the board chaired by Aster Mamo, Government Whip of the parliament last week according to Wondafrash Assefa, Head of Public Relations with the agency.

The board will announce its final decision this Friday he said.

It is to be remembered that interested bidders submitted their proposals on the 8th of August with Ghion Hotel, Construction Works and Coffee Technology Development Enterprise.

The Privatization and Public Enterprises Supervising Agency approved the bids made by MIDROC Ethiopia and affiliated companies for five of eight companies up for privatization in the last round.  

The approval from the agency was announced last week at the same time the agency declined the offer made for Awash Winery and withheld making a decision on offers for two other companies.

MIDROC Ethiopia and affiliated companies, Horizon Plantation Ethiopia, National Mining Corporation and Saudi Star Agricultural Development, proffered the highest bids for five of the eight companies put forward for auction by PPESA.
