Ethiopia and China signed a Memorandum of Understanding which established a cooperative business Council. Representatives of the Ethiopian Chamber of Commerce and Sectoral Associations and the China Council for the Promotion International Trade held business and investment deliberations at the time.
The Memorandum of Understanding is aimed at strengthening general trade and investment relationships between the two countries according to Junyedi Basha, Vice President of the ECCSA.
The two countries have had trade relationship since antiquity when both had influential civilizations and the cordial relationships founded then still persist according to Junyedi.
The relationship between the two countries has been strengthened with economic, diplomatic and political understandings more recently and China has proven to a true and dependable friend to Ethiopia he noted.The economic relationship established between the two countries is significant said Junyedi.
It is to be remembered that Ethiopia and China signed a memorandum of understanding to promote the development of trade between the two countries, last month.
The agreement stipulated that the nations exchange information on trade policies, investment opportunities, taxation, legislative changes and general national economic status.
China is a proven ally of Ethiopia as witness by the ever growing economic relations between the two countries said Mulu Solomon, President of the Ethiopian Chamber of Commerce and Sectoral Associations at the time.
The agreement also included cooperation between the relevant organizations in each country to organize trade delegations and missions and visits by business people of both countries for trade exhibitions and promotional purposes.
