The top management of the Ethiopian Commodity Exchange, including the Chief Executive, handed over
the reins to the new management team under Anteneh Assefa.
The official transfer ceremony was marked when Dr. Eleni and Anteneh rang the bell to start the day’s trading on the commodity market together.
The five members of the top management team handing over their duties include Dr. Eleni Gebemedhin, founding CEO of the exchange, Ahadu Wubishet, (Operations Officer), Bemnet Aschenaki, (Strategic Officer), Solomon Edesso (Information Technology Officer), Sirak Solomon (Compliance Officer).
The four member team taking over has been working as deputies for the last seven months.The incoming officers, have been working with the outgoing team since the succession process commenced to allow them a period of tranisition into their new responsibilities said Dr. Eleni.
The new team led by Anteneh Assefa, consist of Shimelis Habtewold, Tedla Kebede, Abinet Bekele and Anteneh Mitiku.
Two of the outgoing officers will be staying with the exchange in advisory capacity until September while the other two will offer advisory services until next June noted Eleni.
It is to be remembered that Dr Eleni, announced the succession plan in June claiming that the move has been part of the exchange's vision from the outset.
“ I feel exceptionally luck to have had a dream , had the opportunity to work with an incredible group of dedicated individuals …I have absolutely no doubt that the future for ECX is as bright as ever ” she said at the time.
