Bombardier Promoting C Series Aircraft to Ethiopian Airlines

Bombardier is to demonstrate the capabilities of its new C series aircraft to Ethiopian Airlines. The Canadian Aircraft Manufacturer is ready to begin talks with Ethiopia executives on a possible purchase of the new C series aircraft according to Eric Martel, President of Customer Services and Specialized and Amphibious Aircraft with Bombardier.

The manufacturer is not sure if Ethiopian is interested in the aircraft but plans to offer the airline an opportunity to evaluate the new aircraft said Martel.

The C series aircraft are more fuel efficient, comfortable and require minimal operating costs as advertised by their manufacturer.

In related news Ethiopian Airlines put in an order for an additional Boeing 777 aircraft. The 777-200 Long Range Worldliner will be an addition to Ethiopian’s fleet of five 777-200 LRs said a joint announcement by the airline and the manufacturer.

The 777-200LR has worked well for Ethiopian Airlines allowing to open direct long distance flights to places such as Washington DC, Beijing and Toronto said Tewolde Gebremariam, Chief Executive of the airlines.

The airline plans to offer an increasing number of non-stop long haul flights and will require at least two airplanes on each route to offer efficient daily service he said.

The new addition to the fleet will allow Ethiopian to maximize its use of the 777-200 LRs for these purposes as the aircraft is able to carry more passengers and cargo than any other jetliner as well as being able to connect any two cities in the world non-stop according to Tewolde.
