Ethiopian Airlines Continues to Register High Profit Despite Challenges

Ethiopian Airlines has registered rapid and profitable growth in the past two years in spite of the global economic crisis and periodic increases in petroleum price.

The increase in petroleum prices, the global economic crisis and political instability in the Middle East has been a significant challenge for other airlines according to the Public Relations and Communication Service of the airline.  

Ethiopian Airlines managed to remain profitable and competitive during this financial year by synchronizing its services with the demand market and offering favorable flight conditions for passengers.

The Airline introduced eight new international routes in the past two years and transported an estimated 4.7 million passengers to different destinations in just the last year noted the communications service.  

The number of passengers transported by the carrier was 24.1% more than that of the same period in the past budget year it was noted.

The revenue earned by Ethiopian for the current fiscal year is expected to be 36% higher than the 1.5 billion US dollars secured by the airline over the same reporting period in the last financial year it was learned.

In related news The Aviation Academy of Ethiopian Airlines, Ethiopia’s flag carrier, graduated 106 pilots, cabin crew and marketing agents.

Twenty of the graduates are pilots, while 43 are cabin crew and 43 are marketing trainees.

The graduating pilots have successfully completed the commercial piloting course offered by the academy with instrument and multi-engine ratings. Trainees undertook 695 hours of instruction in class and 170 hours of practical flight training on both multi-engine and single engine aircraft as well as 25 hours in a range of training devices and simulators throughout the course of the two year training program.
