Ethiopian Airlines Signed Agreement with Labor Union

Ethiopian Airlines, Ethiopia’s flag carrier, signed the 10th Collective agreement with its Labor Union. The agreement was signed last week between Tewolde Gebremariam, Chief Executive of Ethiopian and Wondwossen Getaneh, Chairman of the Union to seal the collective bargaining.

The agreement is a testament to the good relationship between the labor union and the management of the airline and is reflective of the level of understanding and cooperation shown on both sides during the negotiations according to Tewolde.

The unity of purpose between management and the union will be a strong foundation for the airline to achieve its objectives as set out in its Vision 2025 he noted.

The union entered the negotiations with the aim of at least ensuring the rights established by the 9th Collective Agreement but the 10th Collective Agreement has exceeded expectation and is expected to create significantly better working conditions and environment said Wondwossen.

The 10th Collective Agreement will be in effect for the three years after it is registered at the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs.

In related news the Ethiopian Airlines in collaboration with the Ethiopian Airports Enterprise has introduced common use self service check in booths at the Addis Ababa International Airport as of the 22nd of May.

The new service is expected to simplify the check in procedures for passengers and alleviate the congestion at the airport. 

The check-in booths allow passengers to check in and print boarding passes after choosing their own seat from the range available.

The move is parts of efforts being implemented by the Airport, Ethiopian Airlines, Addis Customs, Airport Security, Immigration to provide an enhance the travel experience for passengers travelling from and through Addis Ababa.
