Construction and Real Estate Trade Fair Held in Ethiopia

The Fourth Addis International Construction and Third Real Estate Trade Fair was held in the capital of Ethiopia from the 3rd to the 6th of May. The fair was organized by HPP Ethiopia, a Dutch company and an estimated 40 companies exhibiting domestic products and imports were featured.

Several local manufacturers of construction materials took part in the fair such as Oromia Pipe factory, and Ethiopian Steel PLC.

Oromia Pipe Factory produced UPVC pipes for water supply, irrigation, drainage and electric transmission. The company makes pipes from 63 millimeters to 600 millimeters which have provided an alternative to steel pipes which had been dominate on the market previously according to Fekadu.

OPF took part in the exhibition to inform buyers that pipes over 400 mm length are produced locally as part of the bid of import substitution.

Ethiopia Steel produces corrugated iron sheets, aluminum zinc and coated sheets, profiles etc. The company has taken part in the fair to enhance their customer base.

SINI, which makes furniture and offers interior design services, locally was also a participant of the fair. SINI produces its furniture locally with imported machinery and training given by experts from Finland.

The company offers products which are less expensive than imports although they may be more expensive than other domestically products said Henrik Puustinen exhibiting for the firm. SINI products have been popular in Ethiopia since the beginning of production in 2011 he noted.
