Ethiopia’s telecom giant, Ethio Telecom, is planning to bring into play a system which is said to prevent theft, making illegal international phone calls and using below standard handset.
The company aims to launch the system in less than a month's time.
According to the CEO of Ethio Telecom, Andualem Admase, in the aim of preventing reusing stolen mobile apparatuses, the telecom company has imported Central Equipment Identity Register (EIR).
The new system will not also allow illegally imported and below standard handsets to function in the network, Adualem furthered.
The system, in addition, will also improve the quality of network, he added.
