Ethiopia: CBE Secures 2.4 Billion USD

Commercial Bank of Ethiopia (CBE) announced it had bagged 2.4 billion USD in the first 6 months of the fiscal year.

The bank announced its achievement during the foreign trade and service day, ceremony to award best performing clients.

Nonetheless, Bekalu Zeleke, President of the bank, noted the earning was less than what the CBE had made in the same period a year before, 5 billion USD.

During the ceremony, customers with financial deposits ranging from 1-15 million USD were given certificates based on the amount of saving they had. Gold and platinum medals were also given to clients with 15-30 million USD and 30-100 million USD deposit respectively. Clients with more than 100 million USD were given special offers.

Clients who earned platinum medals include Ayka Addis, Bole Atlantic, Ethiopian Cereals Commercial Organization and Ethiopian Airlines. MIDROC and Western Union got a special offer for their performance.

CBE has 330 billion Birr capital, 12 million customers and 1011 branches.
