We work very closely with coffee growing farmers all around our washing stations because we value our relationships with the farmers. We specialize in coffees sourced from Yirgacheffe, Sidamo, and Guji. Since its inception 20 years ago, Dara has established a track record of fair trading and excellent customer service.
The diversified types of Arabica cultivation in the country and its highly suitable environment with high altitudes, good rainfall, and rich volcanic soils yields to the uniquely Ethiopian flavors and aromas that are present in its elegant range of gourmet, specialty, and organic coffee. Coffees are rich in acidity, body, aromatic, and sweet flavored, with a spicy, flora, or mocha taste.

OUR VALUES
Our core value is based on the principles of fair coffee trading to make sure our farmers also benefit from our success.
OUR FARMS
The company runs various washing and processing stations in dominantly coffee growing areas like Yirgachefe, Sidama, and Guji.
YIRGACHEFE
Like many high-end beans, Yirgacheffe is grown at high elevation (1,700 – 2, 200 meters above sea level) and hand picked.
Ethiopian Yirgacheffe coffee is one of the most popular types of coffee in the world. Its light bodied flavor and delicious aromas make it a perfect beverage choice. A fine Ethiopian Yirgacheffe coffee displays a bright acidity along with intense, clean tastes and a complexity of floral notes in the aroma, sometimes with a hint of toasted coconut. Cupping notes frequently mention the aftertaste being vibrant, and the coffee may exhibit undertones of berry or wine.
Coffee lovers appreciate a well-brewed cup of Ethiopia’s Yirgacheffe coffee. When done right, it’s unlike any other. Contact us to learn more about how you can get a fresh batch of Yirgacheffe coffee beans.
SIDAMA
The name Dara originated from Sidama which is a wereda in sidama region. Sidama is where everything started for Dara Coffee. Sidama is special because of its flavorful taste, various fragrances, and distinct processing method.
The ripening process is carried out more slowly and at a lower temperature than in other parts of Ethiopia, resulting in a sweet flavor and an acidic, fruity fragrance.
The region where Sidama coffee is collected is fertile and suitable for coffee tree development. In the Rift Valley, the land stretches across the hills south of Lake Awasa. The temperature here is cooler than in the other regions, which leads the coffee cherries to ripen at a slower speed. So, its harvesting season is later than the other coffees in Ethiopia.
The long ripening process helps these cherries adapt to the various fragrances, quality, and characteristics of Sidama coffee which are the most special aspects of Sidama coffee.
GUJI
The Ethiopian Guji Coffee is an organically grown coffee that has flavors associated with dark chocolate, peaches, and nectarines.
The Kayon Mountain Coffee Farm utilizes shade from acacia and other indigenous trees to protect the coffee and create compost for natural fertilization. Guji is a coffee that has a clear cardamon, black tea flavor, coming from producers whose farms are located at altitude ranges from 1770 (in Shekiso, for example) to 2100 meters. Over the past six decades, rapid developments, both commercial and cultural, have elevated Guji coffee as a unique coffee region. Making a stark contrast with Yirgacheffe and Sidamo coffees.
While there is no doubt that the Guji coffee profile is unique and separate from Yirgacheffe and Sidamo profiles, there is some debate as to whether all Guji coffees can be confined to a single flavor profile. In general, coffees from this region offer a balanced and pleasingly complex cup profile – perfect for both filter and espresso.
