White Humera Sesame
Ethiopian Whitish Humera Sesame Seed is the highest brand all over the market due to its superior quality. It is produced in the country's northwestern, fertile lowlands. The rich soils of Humera, are where the sesame seeds first sprout.
Wellega Sesame
In Ethiopia, there are varieties of sesame seeds abound. The Wellega type's sesame main competitive advantage is its high oil content. Wollega sesame seeds are a mixed/brownish-colored variety from the Wollega region. Because of their high oil content, Wollega-type sesame seeds have a competitive advantage in edible oil production.
Pulses and Cereals
Soya bean
Soybeans are rich in copper and iron. Both are essential for red blood cell formation. Increased red blood cell production increases oxygen to the cells and improves metabolic activity.
Green mung beans
Green mung beans are Easily digestible, Anti-inflammatory (can reduce inflammation), Contain oligosaccharides to prevent gas and bloating, unlike other beans, and contain high amounts of fiber, thereby preventing constipation.
Chickpea
Chickpeas grow up to about 27 percent carbohydrates. A 1-cup serving of chickpeas contains 14.5 grams of protein, 4.3 grams of fat, and 45 grams of carbohydrates. Although 7.9 grams of these carbohydrates are sugars, another 12.5 grams come from dietary fiber, which helps limit the effect of chickpeas on blood sugar levels.
Peanut
Peanut ground nut, or Arachis Hypogaea, is one of the many edible seed plants growing in the country. In Ethiopia, it predominantly grows in Harar, Wolega, Metekel, and Gojam.
Gum Olibanum
There are three varieties of gum olibanum/frankincense in Ethiopia, based on their origins: Tigray, Ogaden, and Borena types. The majority of Frankincense produced and traded on the domestic and international markets is of the Tigray type Olibanum. It comes from the Boswellia papyrifera species. At Alkane we provide different grades of gum oblibanum.
