The Ministry of Water, Irrigation and Energy is to launch new petroleum quality detecting digital laboratories and fuel analyzers worth 12 million Birr, Addis Fortune reported.
A draft regulation prepared by the Ministry of Trade (MoT) which revises the profit margin of oil companies and dealers in Ethiopia has been submitted to the Council of Ministers.
The Ministry of Trade and Regional Integration identified contraband and illegal trade as major bottlenecks for the export trade. The Ministry stated that it would target and work on addressing problems that would hamper the growth of the country’s export performance.
According to the Ministry, both legally recognized and illegal traders participate in unlawful trade activities. The Ministry’s Export Trade Executive Director, Gemechis Melaku, underscored that strict control mechanisms and legal enforcement measures on illegal traders around border areas would positively affect the country’s export performance during the 2022/2023 fiscal year.
The Ministry of Labour and Skills is working to make government-guaranteed loans available to enterprises. During a consultation held on challenges faced by enterprises in Ethiopia, Nigusu Tilahun, State Minister of Ministry of Labour and Skills, stated that the envisaged scheme would solve financial challenges for enterprises and enhance their effectiveness.
The Ministry of Agriculture (MoA) revealed that over 2.1 million hectares of land have been cultivated under contract farming to produce approximately 38 million quintals of crops during the 2024/25 harvest season.
