The Kenyan government has agreed to sell a 15 percent stake in telecom operator Safaricom to South Africa’s Vodacom in a transaction valued at approximately USD 1.6 billion, as part of efforts to raise funds through the sale of state assets.
Kessem Irrigation Dam, which is part of the Kessem Sugar Development Project, is said to be 99 percent completed. This is according to the consultant of the construction project, Federal Water Works Design and Supervision Enterprise.
Kessem irrigation project which consumed 2.6 billion Birr and constructed by Water Works Construction is 99 percent completed and has started giving service. This was disclosed by the resident engineer of the project Jegsa Deyisa.
After the completion of the first phase of the project, the factory started grinding sugarcane a week ago, Kessem Sugar Factory Development Project said.
The Ethiopian Sugar Corporation said Kessem Sugar Factory will start sugar production on regular basis soon.
