Ethiopia: Gibe III to be Inaugurated on Saturday

Ethiopia’s largest hydro power plant, Gibe III, is going to start electricity production in the second half of this year, if annual rain sufficiently fills its reservoir, Water and Energy Minister, Alemayehu Tegenu said.
Gidabo Dam and Irrigation Development project, which is 79 percent complete, will be completed by June 2016, Fana Broadcasting Corporate reported.
The Gidabo Irrigation Dam Project, built at a cost of birr 1.26 billion, has been officially inaugurated by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) and now goes operational.
Ethiopia’s Ministry of Water, Irrigation and Electricity disclosed the construction of Gidabo irrigation Project reached 92 percent completion rate. Such was disclosed during field visit by senior officials at the Ministry.
