Ethiopian Roads Authority said, construction of 15 road projects at a cost of over 7.6 billion Ethiopian birr was undertaken throughout Ethiopia during the concluded Ethiopian Fiscal Year.
Samson Wondimu, Public relation director with the Authority, told Ethiopian News Agency over the weekend that the projects cover a total of 1,154km.
Ethiopian Roads Authority (ERA) disclosed a total of 1,412 kilometers of roads were constructed all over Ethiopia in the just concluded fiscal year. Nonetheless, the Authority’s plan was to construct about 1,557 kilometers of road, meaning the performance was 93 percent of the target set.
Half year report released by the Ethiopian Roads Authority (ERA), shows Ethiopia has spent more than 9 billion Birr for the construction of roads in the first 6 months of the current fiscal year. The expense is close to one-fifth of the total budget allocated for the entire fiscal years.
Zaid Woldegebreil, the person who has been on top of Ethiopian Road Authority (ERA) and led the organization at a Director General level for the past ten years, was removed from his position on Friday, October 31, 2014 by a letter from the Prime Minister Office.
Ethiopian Roads Authority (ERA) it plans to complete 43 road projects by the current fiscal year.
