Boortmalt, Belgian company, is set to step into Ethiopian market by setting up a malt production plant in Ethiopia. The company has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Ethiopian Investment Commission (EIC) on November 24, 2017. The MoU was signed by Fitsum Arega, commissioner of EIC and Yvan Schaepman, CEO of Boortmalt.
Bell Geospace disclosed it won the tender floated by GPB Ethiopia Resources B.V., an affiliate of GPB Global Resources, for Airborne FTG & Magnetic Surveys in the Gewane-El Wiha Block, Afar State. Subsequently, Bell is awarded the contract by GPB Ethiopia.
Benishangul Gumuz Regional State has made available 69,000 hectares of land for investors interested in various sectors, including agriculture and tourism. Amente Geshi, the Head of Benishangul Gumuz Regional Land and Investment Bureau, noted that investors had many options in which they could invest in Benishangul Gumuz, including mineral resources, coal, gold, marble, granite, incense production, and horticulture.
In the 2022/2023 fiscal year, the Benishangul Gumuz Regional State received a total of 40,600 tourists, resulting in an income of Birr 103 million 199 thousand. Out of the total visitors, 40,000 were domestic tourists and 600 were foreign tourists. This represents an 18 percent increase in the performance of the tourism sector compared to the previous year. The improved performance can be attributed to factors such as relative peace in all three zones of the region, the development of tourist destinations, and their accessibility to visitors.
Benishangul Gumuz Regional State disclosed that the revenue it earned from gold during the past nine months of this fiscal year was registered to be low when compared to the same period during the last fiscal year.
