Ethiopia concluded a hydro power plant construction agreement with three companies for the construction of a plant that is going to be built in Oromia State, out of which one is a local firm.

Ethiopia is to build a new international airport between Meki and Modjo roads to address the growth of air traffic at Bole International Airport, Addis Ababa.

The Ethiopian Airport Enterprise is conducting a study to build a new international airport said Colonel Wossenyeleh Hunegnaw, Director of the Ethiopian Civil Aviation Authority.

Bole International Airport, Addis Ababa currently services more than 150 flights daily with Ethiopian Airlines accounting for more than 60 departures a day while the numbers of international carriers operating in out of the airport have also increased to 13 contributing to the need to build a new airport explained the source.

Ethiopia is planning to finance the construction of a road that links it with South Sudan’s largest oilfields, Paloch oilefiends. The construction of the road is anticipated to help South Sudan to sell its fuel production for its neighbor at a planned new refinery.

The Ministry of Agriculture in Ethiopia is to build silos in 11 drought prone areas to enhance the nation’s food reserves.

The ministry currently operates 7 silos across the country with the total increasing to 18 once the new silos are completed.

MoA has finalized the feasibility study, site identification, and soil study to launch construction on the silos according to information from the ministry.

The Ethiopian Privatization and Public Enterprises Supervisory Agency approved the proposal tabled for the construction of a tantalum processing plant at the Kenticha Tantalum Mine.

The proposal for the construction of the plant was tabled by the Ethiopian Minerals Development sc. which owns the mine, last month.

It is to be remembered that the Ministry of Mines had counseled the EMDE to look towards producing value added tantalum at the Kenticha mine.
