Ethiopian Intellectual Property Authority (EIPA) announced Ethiopia's commitment to safeguarding its genetic resources and associated traditional knowledge. This comes after signing the Final Act of a new treaty with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) on May 24, 2024.
Ethiopia will soon have a transformer factory with a production capacity of over 10,000 transformers per annum, Ethiopian News Agency reported.

Ethiopia has purchased fuel worth over two billion dollars during the nine months since July 8, 2019, the Ethiopian Petroleum Supply Enterprise announced. The amount was used to purchase over 2.9 million metric tons of benzene, kerosene, aviation fuel, and diesel during the period.
Ethiopia has procured pharmaceuticals and medical equipment worth more than 5 billion birr in the just ended financial year according to the Ethiopian Pharmaceuticals Fund and Supply Agency.
The purchase includes more than 300 types of medical and pharmaceutical supplies including chemical, antibiotics and equipment said Yared Yigezu, Director of Procurement Forecast and Capacity Building with the agency.
Significant medical equipment including an MRI and digital mammography are amongst the purchases in the reporting period he explained.
