Ethiopia's Ministry of Agriculture launched a national Pump and Engine Testing Center that can test and certify both local and imported small scale irrigation pumps and engines.

The Ethiopian Maritime Authority (EMA) has officially granted licenses to five new multimodal transport operators (MTOs), marking a major shift in the country’s logistics sector. This move comes one year after the government ended Ethiopian Shipping and Logistics’ (ESL) 15-year monopoly, allowing new players into the market.

Ethiopia has inaugurated a specialty coffee trading center in Zhuzhou, Hunan Province, as part of ongoing efforts to expand its coffee trade engagement with China.

Boeing announced this week that Ethiopian Airlines placed an order for four of its 777 freight aircraft. The deal between the Seattle based aircraft manufacturer and the Ethiopian airway is estimated at 1.1 billion US dollars. A joint announcement on Wednesday made in Seattle explained that Ethiopian Airlines was the first African Airline to order the twin engine aircraft.

The Airline's freight capacity and range will be greatly enhanced by the new acquisitions according to Tewolde Gebremariam, CEO of Ethiopian Airlines. The planes demonstrated operational and economical efficiency that is sure to strengthen the position of prominence enjoyed by the airline in Africa, said Tewolde.

A total of 30 exhibitors including Ministry of Tourism, Ethiopian Airlines, tour operators and Regional Bureau representatives are taking part in the 2023 Berlin International Tour and Travel (ITB Berlin) Exhibition.
