Delbi Coal Mining Share Company is set to extract 30,000 tons of coal in Ethiopia. The company will be extracting coal from an open mining field in Jimma. Delbi plans to increase its production to 200,000 tons of coal in time.
Delbi has extracted and sold an estimated 46,000 tons of coal since it began operating. The company has begun preparation for the mining project.
Delegation team from Ethiopia attended African Investments and Business Forum held in Algiers, Algeria. The forum was held from December 3 to 5, 2016 under the theme of “Towards a new dynamic”.
Deloitte Consulting Ltd. has formed a collaborative venture with HST consulting plc, a local firm to enter the market in Ethiopia. 
The partnership was registered with a capital of 1.1 million birr Deloitte is expected to offer management consultancy, senior management training services, and tax advisory.
The two companies took about a year in discussions as Deloitte studied the market potential in Ethiopia according to a senior partner with HAST consulting plc.
Deloitte, a global professional services giant, has secured the first operating license for the Ethiopian Securities Exchange (ESX).
Deloitte is to develop agribusinesses, finance and mining efforts alongside its consulting work in Ethiopia. It will conduct its business efforts alongside its consulting tasks said Sammy Onyango, Chief Executive Officer for Deloitte East Africa.
The company came to the decision to partner with domestic advisory and accountancy firm HST to take advantage of Ethiopia’s human resources and significant economic development he explained.
