Ethiopian Construction Works Corporation (ECWC) and Djibouti's Enterprise Dawaleh Construction (EDC) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to strengthen their strategic collaboration.
The Ethiopian Construction Works Corporation revealed that it was prepared to engage in the real estate sector in addition to its housing development program.
The Corporation is currently carrying out Addis Ababa City Administration’s housing renovation program and has also entered an agreement with the Administration for the construction of 10,000 houses which, according to the Corporation, will be completed within 2 years.
With the goal of becoming the top construction firm in Africa, the Ethiopian Construction Works Corporation (ECWC) is launching an expansion strategy to develop its presence in Kenya and South Sudan. It also intends to establish branches in additional African nations, such as Egypt, Rwanda, Equatorial Guinea, and others.
Ethiopia’s new Trade Practice and Consumers Protection Authority organized under the Ministry of trade is to launch activities soon.
The authority is intended to safeguard the rights and privileges of consumers to inspect good and to enhance the efficiency of trade according to proclamation 685/2010 which formed it.
The authority is managed by Merkebu Zeleke under the title of Director General and overseeing a range of departments including those focusing on investigation, research, implementation, dissemination and an attorney general.
Ethiopian contractors, Kassa and Sons Consulting were awarded the civil work for Total Ethiopia’s depot at Dukem. Total Ethiopia is expected to put out further tenders for mechanical and electrical work. 
Kassa and Sons secured the contract after a limited invitation made to eight companies to present engineering estimates along with proof of having the necessary equipment and personnel to realize the design for the depot executed by Ultimate Plan plc.
