Ethiopian Airlines Group, the largest aviation group in Africa, has completed the first phase of its In-Terminal Hotel construction. In a continuous effort to ensure the convenience and comfort of passengers, crews and airlines using Addis Ababa as a hub, the In-Terminal Hotel construction began in December 2020. The Hotel is physically connected to Addis Ababa Bole International Departure Terminal 02 with a short walking distance from departure gate and will be managed by Ethiopian Skylight Hotel as Ethiopian Skylight In-Terminal Hotel. The two-phased project reached the completion of the first phase, availing 41 rooms for guests.

Ethiopian Airlines Group, Africa’s leading Airline, announced that joining hands with BGI Health Ethiopia, a subsidiary of China's biotech giant, the BGI Genomics Co., Ltd, to launch a high-end COVID-19 testing laboratory at its main hub and the continent’s busiest airport, Addis Ababa Bole International Airport. The testing center is opened to revitalize the passengers’ business by creating a seamless travel experience that includes COVID-19 testing to passengers that are departing or transiting via Addis Ababa, the airlines stated in a statement sent to 2merkato.com.

Ethiopian Airlines has placed an order for 11 additional Boeing 737-8 aircraft, expanding its 737 MAX fleet as part of its broader network and hub development strategy. The agreement was announced during the Dubai Airshow.

Ethiopian Airlines, Ethiopia’s flag carrier, has put in an order for Boeing Blended Winglets for its 767-300 ERs said Aviation Partners Boeing. The Airline will install the Winglets at the maintenance facility to be found at Bole International Airport, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

The airline plans to install the Winglets on 3 aircraft as of February 2012.

Ethiopian Airlines decided to purchase the winglets for the B767 aircraft to take advantage of the significant performance and operating value they bring said Tewolde Gebremariam Chief Executive Officer of Ethiopian Airlines.

Ethiopian Airlines, Ethiopia’s flag carrier, made a firm order for five Q400 NextGen Bombardier aircraft confirmed Bombardier Aerospace.

Three of the five airplanes are to be operated by Ethiopian Airlines affiliate ASKY, the Togolese airlines, while the other two will remain with Ethiopian.

According to the list price of the Q400 bombardier aircraft the purchase is estimated at a total of 160 million US dollars.
