Wegagen Bank, in collaboration with Visa Inc., has launched its International Prepaid Visa Card service, allowing customers, embassy staff, and international organization employees to make global payments without carrying cash.
Wegagen Bank, one of Ethiopia’s leading private financial institutions, has signed a five-year growth partnership agreement with Visa Inc., a global leader in digital payments. The agreement aims to expand the bank’s international card banking services and strengthen its global payment capabilities.
Wegagen Bank S.C held its 32nd Ordinary Shareholders’ General Assembly on October 7, 2025, at the Hilton Hotel in Addis Ababa, where the Bank presented its financial results for the 2024/25 fiscal year.
Wegagen Bank has reported growth in its financial performance, with total assets reaching Birr 65.7 billion for the 2023/24 fiscal year. The announcement was made during the bank's 31st regular and 15th emergency general meeting of shareholders, held in Addis Ababa.
Wegagen Capital Investment Bank has executed the first inter-broker trades of Government Treasury Bills and listed securities on the Ethiopian Securities Exchange (ESX). The trades took place as part of the official listing ceremony for Government T-bills and the start of trading operations, held on July 11, 2025, at the Sheraton Addis Hotel.
