MoT to Entrust Trade Name Registrations and Licensing Services to Sub-cities

The Ethiopian Ministry of Trade is to entrust its trade name registrations and licensing services to sub cities in Addis Ababa and regional states.

Previously businesses are required to approach the headquarters of the Ministry of Trade to get their trade names registered and obtain business license.

MoUDC Drafted Directive on Gov't Projects Construction Pricing

The Ethiopian Ministry of Urban Development and Construction had finalized a draft directive to make changes on the fixed rate pricing system currently applicable to all contractors working on government projects.

The International Monetary Fund advised the Ethiopian government to to make more credit available to private businesses to boost employment and build on its economic gains.

While the country's government-led development model has improved lives and expanded the economy, public enterprises that are involved in building more houses, dams and factories are draining banks of loans, Ethiopia Representative Jan Mikkelsen told reporters in Addis Ababa.

The Ethio-Japan Investment forum was held on Monday in Tokyo, at the headquarters of the Japan External Trade Office (JETRO),following the conclusion of the TICAD V summit, according to the Ethiopian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Tedros Adhanom, in his address at the forum underscored the successful and strategic partnership between Ethiopia and Japan. However, he pointed out that the trade and investment relation between the two countries is unsatisfactory and invited investors to take opportunities in the country's dynamic growth.

Nyota Minerals discovered New Gold Anomaly in Western Ethiopia

Nyota Minerals, the dual listed on the AIM Market of the London Stock Exchange (AIM:NYO.L) and the Australian Stock Exchange gold exploration and development company, has reported the discovery of a new gold anomaly at the Boka-West target in the company's fully Northern Block exploration license areas in Western Ethiopia.

The company reported that, the gold-in-soil anomaly extended for 2.0KM in length and was up to 500 metres (m) wide. The company said that it was also coincidental with anomalies for copper (Cu), zinc (Zn) and bismuth (Bi). Add a comment Add a comment

National Bank of Ethiopia to Introduce Standardized Cheques

The National Bank of Ethiopia (NBE), the regulatory organ of financial institutions in Ethiopia, is set to introduce a standardized cheque with enhanced security using Magnetic Ink Character Recognition (MICR) starting from early January 2014.

The Ethiopian Minerals Development Enterprise S.C. has shelved it construction material plant project proposed in the Afar Regional State due to lack of finance.

The Ethiopian Privatization and Public Enterprises Agency (PPESA) passed its decision to suspend the project as the enterprise is planning to build a tantalum manufacturing plant at the Kenticha tantalum mine and it would be difficult to undergo the two projects together.
