Ethiopia: Precise Consult Collaborates with Government Institutions to Assemble, Manufacture Solar Appliances

Precise ConsultPrecise Consult collaborates with the Ministry of Irrigation and Lowlands and the Ministry of Water and Energy to expand irrigation development in Ethiopia. The consulting firm announced a program called Solar Appliance Manufacturing Program which was aimed at assembling and manufacturing 250,000 Solar Home Systems (SHS) and 25,000 Productive Use Energy (PUE) appliances. The project which is funded by Shell Foundation is expected to address key bottlenecks of the off-grid manufacturing sector by participating pertinent stakeholders.

Ethiopia: Three Local Companies to Enter Industrial Parks

IPDC Local InvestorsThree Ethiopian companies, Afian Textile and Garment Manufacturing, Eliakim Edible Oil Manufacturing, and Domain Aluminum Composite Panel, inked an agreement with Industrial Parks Development Corporation (IPDC) to join industrial parks. The three companies collectively have a capital of Birr 430 million.

According to Sandokan Debebe, the CEO of IPDC, the Government is working hard to attract potential local investors to industrial parks. Four local investors agreed to join industrial parks during the past two months.

Ethiopia: Ministry to Target Illegal Traders with a View to Increasing Export

The Ministry of Trade and Regional Integration identified contraband and illegal trade as major bottlenecks for the export trade. The Ministry stated that it would target and work on addressing problems that would hamper the growth of the country’s export performance.

According to the Ministry, both legally recognized and illegal traders participate in unlawful trade activities. The Ministry’s Export Trade Executive Director, Gemechis Melaku, underscored that strict control mechanisms and legal enforcement measures on illegal traders around border areas would positively affect the country’s export performance during the 2022/2023 fiscal year.
