Tewodros Tefera car Rental (TTCR) is established in 1995 E.C. The company is established with the aim of rendering services of car rental, service to aid agencies, the government and the private sectors in various parts of the country. The company also offers professional car rental services for the UN, Regional Offices and Research Institutes in different parts of Ethiopia.

TTCR is one of the best, organized and efficient car rental companies in Ethiopia. Most recent extra ordinary success has been registered while it managed the operation for the May 2010 EU Election Observers Mission in Ethiopia. It supplied more than 150 vehicles for the mission and successfully delivered the services it was contracted for.

The company has highly trained, professional, dependable and service oriented staff members who work with a well elaborated rules and regulations. TTCR has 15 administrative staff, 51 drivers, 14 mechanics and two part time workers at a Masters Degree level. The two advisors, one in finance and one in Operations are responsible for designing strategic plans and monitor the executions of the tasks assigned to each individual. They represent the company in all meetings and forums. They do marketing strategy and prepare the monthly plans. Depending on the volume of the work, they avail themselves up to three to four days to work in the company. The remaining staffs are responsible for the execution of the day to day tasks. When TTCR enters into a new agreement it assigns one of its staff member to be a contact person and responsible for all communication and documentation. More than 80% of the staff members stayed with the organisation for more than 5 years.

GENERAL OBJECTIVE OF THE COMPANY

SHORT TERM OBJECTIVE

To provide appropriate car rental services to the UN, the government and NGOs that are working in various parts of Ethiopia and demonstrate its capacity and reliable partnership to achieve the targets. Since we live in a country where poverty is the main challenge, we opt to do our best and share by being honest, committed, reliable and socially responsible.

LONG TERM OBJECTIVE

To grow in the sector and give an extended services to various groups including the private sectors. Create an employment opportunity to people, build their capacity, and build up a reliable conscientious team working to support our customers.

CONDITIONS, FACILITY AND SPECIFICATIONS OF VEHICLES

This company has invested significantly in car rental business and own more than 50 field vehicles that can be available for deployment within a short time. It is also possible to outsource more than hundred vehicles that belong to our business partners and sister companies just in a short notice.

It owns a range of reliable and comprehensively insured vehicles (Toyota land cruiser cobra 1 HZJ 105, Toyota land cruiser cobra 1HZJ80, Toyota Land Cruiser hard top 1 HZJ75, Toyota land cruiser hard top 1HZJ78, Toyota land cruiser pickups, ISUZU and FSR Mini trucks that has a capacity of loading 50 to 100 quintals at a time. All vehicles are in excellent working conditions and they have all passed their yearly government technical inspections.

The vehicles have also complete accessories to meet the highest mechanical standards to operate in any kind of terrains in the country.

All the vehicles have:

    • Full insurance coverage.
    • Functioning odometer.
    • Equipped with couple of spare wheels.
    • Supplied with accessories such as; fire extinguishers, first aid kits, enough mechanical tools including jack, wheel spanner, spade, hoe, towing rope.
    • Operational front and back seat belts.
    • Fuel coverage of an average of 6-7 km/litter for LVs.
    • Code 3 commercial vehicles.
    • Seat belts, excellent body and mechanical condition.

BEST QUALITIES OF COMPANY

    • The vehicles are well maintained and reliable in any kind of terrain. In case there is a breakdown, replace the vehicle within one or two days.
    • It has one stationed garage and three mobile workshops.
    • It can give the customers finance section enough time to process payments.
    • It also delivers service on a credit basis that would give the client organisation to minimise the gap that could be created by release of funds from your donors and HQ.
    • It gives fair and competitive price for the services rendered and good value for money.
    • Regularly updated and renewed trade licenses, insurance policies and driving licenses.
    • Title Certificates and annual inspections are conducted on time.

PAYMENT

VAT (Value Added Tax) 15% will be added on all payments submitted. If there is a cash flow problem with the customer, a special arrangement can be made to delay payment up to 90 days. An advance payment is not expected.

COMPANY DRIVERS

    • All drivers are specially trained for both rough and smooth terrains. In addition to their driving skills, they have a good mechanical skill.
    • They Have a valid and clean driving licenses and able to communicate in English and local languages.
    • They are able to maintain records and keep a good logbook that would be used as a proof for vehicle utilisation.
    • They have a proven Loyalty and have an excellent team work spirit. They receive various trainings during slack periods.
    • They have NGO and UN work experience and they are familiar with the requirements to operate safely and securely.

GARAGE FACILITIES

TTCR manages one stationed and three mobile garages. The stationed garage is located in Addis Ababa while the mobile garages travel to a central area where there are significant operations. The garages undertake A and B services including preventive maintenances while C service is outsourced to three reliable garages. Up to 80% of spare parts are procured from MOENCO Share Company which is a sole supplier of genuine Toyota spare parts.
