Support Education (SupEd) is established in 2016 based in Addis Ababa Ethiopia. Support Education (SupEd) is a pioneer in the localization of digital learning materials based on the existing curriculum of the country's educational system.
Through our in-house software development team, SupEd continues to produce and deliver tools and applications that support teaching and learning at primary, middle and secondary schools as well as higher education institutions. SupEd also supports technology-enhanced teaching and learning by providing educational tablets, solar powered mobile servers, and school networking solutions. SupEd also has products and applications to uniquely support inclusive education for disabled persons and disadvantaged groups, as well as migrants, pastoralists and internally displaced persons.
For more than ten years, we have been installing and supporting innovative educational technology such as eGranary offline digital library (Internet in a box) and training schools and tertiary institutions on how to use these tools.
We have delivered solutions to Ethiopian higher education, Preparatory school, high schools, and have developed similar resources for lower grades. Working with professionals from the field of ICT (Software and mobile application development, computer networking), education and management, we are offer offline digital library systems developed according to the national curriculum which can also be used for a non-structured education approach. These resources have been developed for both students and teachers.
Girls Can Code Project (GCC), fully funded in collaboration with the US Embassy, provided training to motivate girl student to join STEM subjects when they join Universities. The Training included coding in different programming languages, and life skill development through sharing of life experiences by known and successful women.
This project was inspired from working on a variety of educational programs in sub-Saharan Africa over the past decade where lack of access to educational resources and poor and/or expensive internet remain challenges. After working with a number of different platforms, we could not find one with flexibility to add local content (which in many cases is extensive and well developed) organized around local curriculum, programs and resources.
SparkEd was designed as an open source resource with a focus on uploading locally developed resources for delivery as a central/library resource but also for delivery of modular/grade level resources on mobile devices.
The SparkEd App will help you to browse the content on the device which is available offline and browse through the web-based resource from the central server which is equipped with different types of resources for different grade levels with very useful references.
Tablet for Student and teachers are loaded with complete curriculum content and video tutorial so that student teachers can use them anywhere anytime with out the need for connection or internet. This is also ideal for student in rural area and where there is no access to educational resource. This approach will bring equity and equality in relation to access to digital education resource irrespective of, economic status, gender and other disparity as long us we support them to have them. We work with developmental partners, NGOs, governmental organizations, and local and international investors in the vicinity, to help the student to have such digital devices with digital resource.
Technology is a driving force in education, opening up many doors and preparing students for what lies ahead, not behind. We are providing different digital tools for classrooms to boost teachers-students interaction.
The eGranary Digital Library -- "The Internet in a Box" -- is an off-line information store that provides instant access to over 35 million digital resources for those lacking adequate Internet connections.
Through a process of copying web sites (with permission) and putting them on the internal networks of our partner institutions, the eGranary delivers instant access to a wide variety of educational resources including video, audio, books, journals, and websites.
A single eGranary, connected to a wired or wireless local area network (LAN), can serve thousands of patrons.
The eGranary comes in three form factors: a full-sized eGranary server optimized for rugged conditions; a 12-volt server than can be run on battery or solar power; and a stand-alone USB drive that turns any Windows computer into a server.
This is an educational content server with long wireless coverage enough for any school. It offers high volume of digital content thereby creating a community of users.
The pro server is configured to serve schools with about 2000 students. It contains all curricular text books, video tutorials, reference materials in different formats (video, PDF, web page, simulations, audio books, Solar Charger and more.)
SupEd is designing and collaborating with key partners to provide online education to migrants and immigrants. This effort is to assist huge number of school age girls and boys who fled their countries and live in camps or elsewhere in East African countries, without any access to education. Beyond that, language, digital literacy and IT competence skill, TVET and other courses are designed to for adults, so that they can be easily integrated in the society where they reside as well as find job opportunities.
21st century has begun with digital transformation in spheres of human activity. However, digital literacy and IT competency skills have not been widely spread as it should be. The digital literacy project SupEd envisaged to implement ranges training for public servants to empowering graduates with IT competency skill to increase their employability in the labor market.

The initiative to solve the existing problem of the Ethiopian school curriculum based resources, such as textbooks distribution, video tutorials through television and reference book problem in most of the schools in the country is taken To solve these problems.
We developed the digital educational server for the whole high school and preparatory college, that has all textbooks, video tutorials, and reference books.
A tablet with grade resources (textbooks and video tutorials) full loaded so as to use them anywhere any time without the need for connection.
A wireless network that needs to bridge the resource in the server, which will be installed in the school to the tablet.
In the same way, a course based library system is developed for Universities in Ethiopia.
Speed school is initiated by Geneva Global. this initiative is piloted and currently implemented in different regions. the workshop made in Debre Zeit has proved its importance if adopted. based on this initiative we are working in assisting the SS with technology. After participating in a workshop, organized by Ministry of Education and Jeneva Global, at Bishoftu Pyramid Hotel on June 11/2018, we have discussed with a concerned body on how to support the speed school through technology-assisted Education program which is introduced by support education. The discussion and the way forward is to be continued with Geneva Global and organizations working in similar projects.
Adult education is a practice in which adults engage in systematic and sustained self-educating activities in order to gain new forms of knowledge, skills, attitudes, or values.
As both adult Education and lifelong learning are a key to the economic and social development of the community, we are developing technology-assisted learning environment through our offline library system to be implemented in CLC (community learning Center)
This project was fully funded by the US Embassy public affair office. After having interned into an agreement, we have selected 100 girls student of grade 11 from 10 public schools. 10 student from each school in Addis Ababa, set for filtering examination and interviewed, out of which 4 were selected from Each school. Hence this project was started with 40 girls, as its first of its kind of project in the country, or maybe in our region. The aim of the GCC project was intended to address girls to girls so that girls mentors from University will assist girl students from high school to promote STEM.
