Alta Research, Training and Counseling (ALTA RTC) was established in January 2013 in Ethiopia by a team of professionals with a background in psychological and social sciences. Since its establishment, it has been providing consultancy, counseling and training services to different groups of people such as young children, youth and adults. It closely works with youth to help them have a vision, lead themselves and others, have some crucial skills such as leadership skills, critical thinking skills, problem-solving skills, self-awareness skills, team-building skills, confidence, communication skills, emotional intelligence, stress management and relationship management skills.
ALTA provided trainings to hundreds of youth groups and adults with networks supported by local and international NGOs, among these, youth supported by Forum On Sustainable Child Empowerment (FSCE), Give Hope Ethiopia and Selam Children’s Village are found. Our counseling services address psycho-social problems of individuals, groups and communities.
Moreover, we have been providing basic counseling skills training for psychologists, social workers, sociologists and para-professionals who work for different institutions.
ALTA had been providing Life skills training in its summer program every year in July and August for the last four years when school is closed, except after COVID-19. This regular program provided youth-friendly training on personal development that includes creativity skills, managing peer pressure, building self-esteem, decision-making skills and interpersonal communication skills.
ALTA presents E’SET (እሴት) weekly television show in collaboration with Sharp Videography on issues of family, youth, children and adults on Nahoo TV for over a year. Its staff have been invited to many media as guest speakers on different psycho-social issues such as on Sate owned Ethiopian Broadcasting Corporation (EBC), Fana TV, Walta TV, Nahoo TV, Addis TV, FM Radios-Interviews on psychological issues on FM 98.1, FM 101.1, FM 94.3, FM 97.1, FM 102.1, FM 97.1, FM 90.7, FM Bahar Dar, FM Wolayta.
2013: Establishment – Obtained legal certificates and started basic counseling skills training to professionals such as psychologists and social workers, and delivered counseling services to individuals for the first time.
2014: Started parenting skill training-direct and through school systems
2016: Started summer Life Skill training for children above age 7 and youth
2018: Started Media to reach the wider public on Nahoo TV and other media including ETV, FANA radios, and Ahadu Radio
2019: Made agreement with international employee assistance institutions to provide counseling services in Ethiopia on their behalf (WPOs and ICAS)
2020/21: Started Virtual training (Zoom/Skype) due to COVID-19 pandemic
