Modern building industries PLC (MBI), a member of the MIDROC Ethiopia technology group, is engaged in the production and marketing of different types of paints, non metallic filler materials, concrete blocks and tiles, plastic floor tiles and glue products in Ethiopia.
The paint factory manufactures different types of decorative and protective paints for construction, automotive and industrial applications. The factory uses imported and locally-based raw materials for its paint products.
Having qualified and experienced experts in paints technology, the factory’s performance has been superb; in recognition of which it has received an international platinum Awards.
In addition certification of appreciation from Ethiopian Quality Award organization /EQA/ has shown encouraging effort and commitment in promoting organizational excellence.
Fillers are generally inert substances which improve a product’s specific gravity, hardness, brittleness, strength in impact and compression, resistant to heat, electrical and heat conductivity, smoothness of surface, color, transparency and other properties.
The plant is specialized in the production of fillers from non-metallic minerals; ceramics, plastics, cultured marble, stucco, terrazzo tiles, putty, adhesives etc.

Quartz floor tiles are highly durable, hard- wearing, extremely versatile and ideal for commercial, industrial, and domestic applications. It can be laid in airports, government buildings, office buildings, hospitals, schools, supermarkets, warehouse, retail outlets and domestic interiors.
MBI Quartz floor tiles are also recommended and guaranteed for areas requiring the yse of forklift trucks, pallet trucks and other wheeled traffic.
Different types of products are manufactured under concrete block and tiles operation to meet the growing needs of the building construction industry. Products under this category include hydraform blocks, concrete floor(pavement) tiles, terrazzo tiles, roof tiles and cultured marble. These products are available in various sizes patterns and designs.

The main office of MBI is located in addis ababa, nifas silk lafto sub city at mechare meda. The paint factory, the quartz floor tiles factory and the concrete blocks and tiles factories are located at akaki whereas the filler plant is found in awash.
MBI’s awash filler plant is the first of its kind in Ethiopia. It owns a range of modern machinery imported from Germany and Jordan. Equipped with highly automated machinery, the filler plant can supply its micronized products in fineness of 10 micron, 15 micron, 20 micron, 45 micron, 63 micron and 90 micron. At full scale production in three shifts, the plant has an annual capacity of 20,000 tons.
MBI’s paints factory produces 16,000 liters of different types of quality Dil paints per day, in a single shift.
MBi,s quartz floor tiles factory produces 800,000 m2 of quartz floor tile per year in three shifts.
