Ethiopia, Djibouti, Sudan Leaders Join in Inaugurating Jimma Industrial Park


Abiy Ahmed greets Omar al-Bashir at the ceremonyJimma Industrial Park, a 1.5 million square foot (75ha) wide establishment set in place mainly for textile and garment production, is jointly inaugurated by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed of Ethiopia, Ismail Omar Guelleh of Djibouti and President Omar al-Bashir of Sudan. The three leaders also launched the construction of the 79 km Jimma – Agaro-Dedesa road project, which will be built at a cost of 1.37 billion birr. Ethiopia: Turkish Textile Companies Planing to Invest in Ethiopia

Turkish textile and garment companies are planning to move their factories to Ethiopia, with the assistance of Ayka Addis Textile and Investment Group, a Turkish company that made the same move three years ago.

Yangfan Motors Expanding its Assembly Plant in Ethiopia

Yangfan Motors P.L.C., a Chinese based Company, is to expand its vehicle assembly plant in Ethiopia at a cost of US$4.2 million.

The company has been assembling vehicles during the past four years in Ethiopia. Yangfan Motors signed agreement on Thursday for purchase of its assembling and manufacturing facility with Eastern Industry Zone located in Dukem, Oromia Regional State.

Sugar Corp. to Launch Dam Construction for Sugar Development

Construction of an irrigation dam for the 4.8 billion Ethiopian Birr Wolkayit Sugar Development Project will be launched soon, the Ethiopian Sugar Corporation said.
