U.S Embassy in Ethiopia Organized a Business to Business Matchmaking Event

The U.S Embassy in Ethiopia has organized a  one day business to business matchmaking program which  will take place on August 9, 2013. The even will also coincide with the 2013 African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) Forum which will be held from August 9-13 in Addis Ababa. 

The matchmaking event is aimed to create opportunities for participants to meet with several potential U.S businesses who are looking for Ethiopian partners, wholesalers, distributors, sales representatives.The event is open to Ethiopian companies in all sectors, however, it will particularly focuses on agriculture.

Kenyan Trade Delegation to Visit Ethiopia

A high level Kenyan trade delegation is to visit Ethiopia on a three day trade mission in Ethiopia. The event is organized by the Kenya Association of Manufacturers and the Kenyan Embassy in Ethiopia.

The delegation include senior government officials of the Kenyan government and industry executives from food & beverage, metal, construction sectors. Ethiopia Earned US$593 Million from Export of Minerals

n in the just ended Ethiopian Fiscal Year, short of US$255 of the target set by the Ministry of Mines for the budget year. The revenue has also decreased by US$61 million compared to earnings of same period last Ethiopian Fiscal Year.

The decrease is said to be as a result of price fall of gold in the global market, which causes companies in Ethiopia to reduce their gold export, according to Sinkinesh Ijigu, Minister of Mines. Add a comment Add a comment

Ethiopia Preparing to Submit its Offer on Services to WTO

Ethiopia is planning to submit its offer on services to the World Trade Organization in September 2013 as part of its accession bid. Ethiopia is currently working on offers for 160 service industries, some of which are controlled by the state.

Last year, Ethiopia has submitted suggested tariffs on goods to member countries for negotiation, Geremew Ayalew, head of the trade relation and negotiation directorate at the Trade Ministry, said in an interview with Bloomberg in Addis Ababa.
