The Bahir Dar Textile Factory is undergoing a 500 million birr renovation which is expected to enable it to produce three times as much as it currently does and make it competitive in international market, Abay Melaku, general manager of the factory, said.

Abay said that 60 modern weaving machines had been imported from Europe for the factory. After it is renovated, the factory will be able to export more than 80 percent of its products that will generate the nation an estimated 30 million US dollar, Abay said.

Bahir Dar Textile Share Company manufactures and markets textiles. The company was founded in 1954 and is based in Bahir Dar, Ethiopia.
