Ethiopian Electric Utility to Build a Technology Center in Kotebe

The Ethiopian Electric Utility (EEU) and the China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) have recently entered into a contract to establish a cutting-edge technology center in Kotebe sub-city, Addis Ababa. The center, to be constructed on EEU premises, carries a price tag of Birr 9,341,596,232.

The technology center will encompass vocational training shops specializing in electrical technology, a research and excellence center, a national distribution SCADA control center, distribution equipment inspection and laboratory facilities, a modern meeting hall, accommodation for trainees and guests, a cafeteria, as well as various sports facilities.

It is expected that the center would greatly benefit customers by delivering dependable, efficient, and state-of-the-art services aligned with contemporary technology. During the signing ceremony, CCECC Ethiopia’s Branch Deputy General Manager Wu Jiuyi affirmed his company’s commitment to completing the construction within the designated timeframe and maintaining high standards.

This substantial investment in Ethiopia's electricity sector holds significant promise for enhancing service quality and reliability for customers. Furthermore, it will contribute to the training and development of future generations of electrical engineers and technicians.
