Ethiopia's coffee exports reached USD 716.35 million during the first eight months of the current fiscal year, according to the Ethiopian Coffee and Tea Authority. This represents 67% of the initial target of USD 1 billion in revenue from coffee exports within the same timeframe.

While coffee exports increased by 7,228.78 tons compared to the previous year, reaching a total of 150,430.55 tons, the decline in global coffee prices prevented reaching the overall revenue goal.

Despite falling short of the initial target, February saw a positive trend with 19,245.90 tons of coffee exported, generating USD 88.64 million in revenue. This represents an increase of 2,693.17 tons and USD 5.38 million compared to February of the previous year.

Saudi Arabia remains the primary destination for Ethiopian coffee, accounting for USD 152.36 million and 37,614.41 tons of exported coffee. South Korea and the United States follow closely behind, importing 12,583.89 tons and 9,438.15 tons generating USD 72.84 million and USD 60.27 million, respectively. Other major destinations include Germany, Japan, Belgium, China, Sudan, United Arab Emirates, and Italy.
